A Hero Never Forgotten: Agent Louie Pompei

A Hero Never Forgotten: Agent Louie Pompei

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Glendora Police Officer Agent Louie Pompei.  Agent Pompei was tragically killed in the line of duty while attempting to stop a robbery at the Vons Market on Via Verde in San Dimas on June 9th, 1995.  Agent Pompei’s heroic actions led to the capture of the three suspects involved, but unfairly resulted in his death.

Although 20 years have passed, the citizens of Glendora and the men and women of the Glendora Police Department will never forget Agent Pompei.  We are all forever indebted to him for his sacrifice.

Louie was not only a great Police Officer, but an incredible man.  His time here at the Glendora Police Department has left a lasting impression that will never fade.  The stories of his charm, humor and strength are still recited regularly by those who knew him and had the privilege to work with him.

Agent Pompei’s work ethic and dedication to his job will always be remembered.  His legacy is a cornerstone of this Police Department.  The Glendora Police Officers Association and all officers who have come after him will always strive to maintain the level of commitment that Agent Pompei brought to this profession.

A memorial service for Louie will be held this evening, at Via Verde Park in San Dimas. This service is open to the public, and will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Thank you, Louie, and God Bless.
